And For Your Information has just been shortlisted for an Irish Book Award! Yusssss :O
And For Your Information is the story of Sarah, who is not minted like her friends. She has a boyfriend (kind of), a father (who has moved out) and two friends (who get on better with each other than they do with her). Sarah is waiting for her life to begin. It does. When she is caught shoplifting.
A Taste From the Book
At my favourite cosmetics counter, I pick up an eye shadow. It’s the colour of peacock feathers. When I move it under the light, it sparkles. I find a tester and try it out. It’s amazing. It makes my eyes stand out. In a good way. Not like a frog’s or those people you see with thyroid problems. I check the price. And put it back. I try to think of a way. If I went without smoothies for a week…. But then you can’t exactly sit with nothing in front of you while your friends suck away for hours.
‘Sarah?’
I turn. Rachel’s holds up two eyeshadows. They’re practically the same colour.
‘Which one?’ she asks.
I hesitate.
‘Oh, what the hell, I’ll get them both.’ She smiles, like she’s totally mad. She goes to the counter – so easily, like money’s air.
Alex is at a clothes rail. But she’s barely touching the clothes, just gliding the hangers along without really looking. I know she’s thinking of David.
I look back at the compact. Would they really miss one? I mean, how many just roll off the counter every day and get kicked under? Not that I’d take one. I’m not that kind of person. I run a finger over the colours. Longingly. Then I slip one into my palm. Just to see how easy it would be…

I can’t wait for this book to launch!! ‘And by the way…’ was such a good read!!!
Thanks so much Matylda. Pity I can’t just spit them out!
i have just finished both the novels, cover to cover and cried my eyes out at the end of And For Your Information! i used to hate reading until my friend convinced me to read Any By The Way and ever since i havnt put your books down and i talk about them constantly. I nearly feel like my life is part of the novel. Please bring out the next novel soon, i dont have a clue what i am going to do till then!
Aw! Here’s what you’ll do. Go on my Butterfly Novels Facebook page. Look in the margin for ‘Check Out Girl’. It’s a short story to keep you going till the next Butterfly Novel comes out. Thanks so much for telling everyone about the books. I really appreciate it. The more people who read them, the more likely I’ll be able to keep them going. The next book is out in September. It’s called And Actually… and it’s from Rachel’s point of view. I’m so glad you like reading now. There’s nothing like it, is there?
i LOVED ‘and by the way’ although i was annoyed by the ending as I would have loved to see what happened with David and Alex-whether their relationship would have worked..i wish your second novel was from alex’s point of view again as i loved her ! however i will definatly be reading and for your information just to see what happens.. just my opinion though!
Hey, Annie. You find out what happens David and Alex in And For Your Information. It’s funny what you say about not wanting it to be from Sarah’s point of view. My daughter thought the same but she’s read And For Your Information from my computer and actually prefers it. (And, trust me, she’s a tough judge!) It’s refreshing to get such an honest opinion. Thank you. Denise }I{
its the way I feel
“And by the way…” I picked it up literally and read it from cover to cover.. epic story that really got inside me
Hey, Eoin. It really means a lot to know when my writing moves people. I really appreciate you letting me know. Cheers. Denise
Im just after finishing the book in like, 3 hours! Its really good! I cant wait for the second one
Thanks so much Jenny. And For Your Information should be out, late August (details on my Facebook page, Butterfly Novels). Thanks again for getting in touch.
}I{ Denise
Wow, you’re fast! Wish I could write that quickly! So glad you like it, though. Means a lot. Denise }I{
Hey, My Girlfriend just finished reading “And By The Way…’ she read it on the bus down here to Waterville, Kerry, Ireland and finished it just now. We’re staying at her brothers ‘ dads’ hostel until tuesday. She says your book was “excellant, a really really good read and can’t wait to get the next one”. I wish I could write books like you, I don’t have an imagination so I can only write poetry, though no chance of getting my second collection published, well not by a big publisher who will get my book in stores and selling
oh well, so i thought i would say congrats on a great book and keep up the good work
Thanks, Alexander Court, 18.
Oh my god I can’t wait until and for your information comes out by the way in the the end of by the way do Alex and David get back together. I wish and for your information would come out sooner your a great author. And your definitely one of my favourites. What was your favourite author as a child.
Hey Maia
So, really glad you got in touch
Denise }I{
Thanks so much for sending me a message! So glad you enjoyed And By The Way. And For Your Information is due in September but I’m hoping my publisher might be able to get it into the shops by the end of August. If you follow my page on Facebook, Butterfly Novels, I post up all the news. My favourite author as a child? Hmm. Let’s see. I loved the series by Virginia Andrews, Flowers in the Attic, Petals in the Wind… My all time favourite short story was by Oscar Wilde, who I am still a huge fan of. The Selfish Giant. It always makes me cry. And when my kids were small they used to get me to read it, just so I’d cry. They’re pretty evil…. Sorry can’t give away any details about Alex and David – I’d be murdered
Hey denise,
x
I am so excited to read And for your information.
I couldn’t put And by the way down I just kept reading.
I can’t wait to read it from sarah’s point of view.
Please keep reading nancy
Nancy, I am SO sorry for the delay in replying. Being totally hopeless with technology, I didn’t know you’d actually posted a comment. Yes, I am a dinosaur. So glad you enjoyed And By The Way. I’d love to hear what you think of And Your Information and Sarah. Get me much quicker on Facebook – just search under Butterfly Novels. Chat to you there, hopefully. And thanks again. Really great to hear from you. }I{
hey denise! read and by the way at christmas and adored it!! it took me less than two hours to read i couldn’t put it down. you are amazing at writing and ive been dying to read and for your information and I’m soooo happy its out just before my birthday so that i can get it then
I’m actually an aspiring writer myself and adore to write. I’m working on a novel and I’ve wanted to write from the age of maybe 7. The writing just seems to flow from my pen and i feel like thet character themself. In And by the way i felt like I was Alex!! That just shows what a great writer you are! Thankyou for the amazing books.
Siúbhan
I must apologise for the delay in getting back to you. I am a confirmed technophobe – though much better on Twitter and Facebook. So please find me there. I am so glad you liked And By The Way. You will probably have read And For Your Information by now. Would love to know what you thought of Sarah. I hope you had an amazing birthday, full of surprises and hugs. It is wonderful that you write. I wish you so much luck with it. If you ever want to talk, get me on FB. Hugs and butterflies. }I{
I fell unbelievably in love with this book and have read it 50 times over! I enjoyed Alex’s point of view but I really can’t wait for Sarah’s as she seems like a layered character! I hope she finds some one better than Simon because I feel she’s the one who really just wants to be happy with a guy.

Oh good, I’m glad you’re looking forward to Sarah. You will NOT be disappointed. And you’re right – She really is the one who just wants to be happy with a guy and Simon deserves a good kick in the butt! I hope you love And For Your Information. Keep me posted.
I loved your first book “and by the way”. I brought it on my holidays and read and re-read it like, four times! I can’t wait for the second book to come out. How many butterfly novels books are you planning to publish? I loved Alex’s point of view so much and was disappointed to see that your doing Sarahs point of view now, but I’m sure it’ll be an amazing book anyway! Can’t wait for the next book to be published! LOVE your books
Hey Gillian. It makes me so happy to hear that you re-read And By The Way so many times. You need to move on now, girl! Don’t worry about Sarah. You will love her. I promise. In And For Your Information, I fell in love with her totally. Be brave, like I was, and boldly go… Oh and sorry for the delay in getting back. I am much quicker on Facebook – search under Butterfly Novels and like the page. This will keep you up to date on developments. Hope to chat to you there. }I{
Hey
I just bought your book ‘And By The Way’ and stayed up all night reading it.. I loved it, I found the second half of the book so emotional, found myself crying.. I loved the romance with Alex and David in the first half better though. To be honest I agree with Annie about wishing the second book was from Alexs point of view, especially when I didn’t take to the character of Sarah in the book, she seemed very self centred and I suppose she is meant to me. Great first book though, I really cannot wait to find out about David and Alex :O
Hey, Jess. Sorry for the delay in replying. Technology is my weakness. ‘We all have to have one,’ she says vainly. Anyway, so glad you lost sleep over And By The Way. I promise you that you will lose sleep over Sarah! I have to admit that in And By The Way, my favourite characters were The Rockstar, The Stylist and Louis. But in And For Information, I fell in love with Sarah. Totally. Let me know how you get on. And – for your information- the best place to stay in touch with me is on Facebook. Search under Butterfly Novels. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll ‘chat’. Best of luck. }I{
Hey Denise! Im sure you are well aware of how gifted a writer you are, but an author can never get enough praise right? I ended up reading your book “And By The Way” after my dad picked it up in Dublin on a golfing trip and brought it back to our home in Canada for me to read. Reading your books was really refreshing for me, I felt myself accepting the characters as if they were my own friends! When I finished reading I was both satisfied with how how you concluded Alex’s point of view, and anxious to get started on your latest book “And For Your Information”. But I also became inspired, to start writing myself. So I just wanted to say my thanks as one of your fans! Keep writing! Keep inspiring!
Bree, firstly, let me apologise for the delay in replying. I am hopeless at technology and had to wait until my daughter was available to set me up on this. (yes, very sad). Secondly, let me say a big THANK YOU. You are so right, authors need to be reminded why we are doing what we are doing. I am so glad you have started writing because of And By The Way. I really hope you like And For Your Information. It should be available on amazon.ca now. Try searching under denise deegan. If you have any problems, get straight on to me. And by the way (!), please feel free to keep in touch. I am much better at Facebook. Just search under Butterfly Novels. And BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR WRITING. }i{
Just finished ‘For your information’ and OMW it was awsome!!! I think I actually liked it more than ‘And by the way…’ I really loved the story!!! There were some really good twists that I was not expecting!
Thanks so much, Nicole. I’m so glad that you preferred it to And By The Way. Thanks for having faith in Sarah. I know some people are nervous they won’t like her. Personally, I fell in love with her. Thanks so much for getting in touch. }I{

thanks again, Laura }I{ }I{ }I{
hi denise!
I was recommended by a friend of a friend to read “and by the way”. I’m so glad I did read it. I literally could not put it down. I can honestly say it has now become one of my top five books. I think what I liked most is that I could relate with Alex in more ways than one.
I can’t wait to read “And for your information”. I know a lot of people don’t like when the main character gets changed, but I love when that happens because I like to see things from another persons angle.
Hope to see more books by you in the future.
Sarah
Thanks so much Sarah. I’m glad you want to see the world from Sarah’s point of view. You will be surprised. And I really think you’ll come to understand and love her. I did. Good luck with that adventure. Let me know how you get on. And yes Im writing Rachel’s story right now. It took a while to move on from Sarah because I loved her SO MUCH. Thanks again for getting in touch. }I{

I really think you should do a number 2 for and by the ways as I enjoyed i so much but the ending ways so disappointing and I think Sarah is such a poor character I don’t think I will enjoy this book
Thanks Emear for your honesty. I want you to try And For Your Information. I promise you will like it. I know what you mean about Sarah. I felt the same until I got to see the world from her point of view, when I actually fell totally in love with her. Try it.

I bought this book when I was in Ireland with school. I’m german but I really love “And by the way..” . Poor Girl. And It’s written very good. Great Book!
I read your first book when my mum and dad brought it back from Dublin. I stayed up until 3am to get it finished!! Since then, I’ve re-read And by the way 6 times. Im sooo adding And for your information to my christmas list!! I really hope things are better between Alex and David and I’m so glad that her and her dad have a good relationship again. They really brought out the best in her. I thought it was so brave what she did going to the US to talk to David. I couldn’t ever do that!!
I can’t wait till Christmas now, more than ever!!!
Thank you!!
good book, but very sad sometimes
I’m glad I’m not one of this persons
the first novel was better
Hi!
Loved ‘And by the way’, I couldn’t put it down! I’m so close to finishing ‘And for your information’. Its such a great book! So sad though…
Anyway, I was bit worried at the start because it was from Sarah’s point of view, but It works and I love it!
Would have probably preferred it to be from Alex’s point of view at the start because I was dying to read about her getting back together with David. Still a great read! Will there be a third book?
Hi Ruth. Yes there will be a third book – from Rachel’s point of view. It should be out in September and it will be called And Actually… So glad you’re enjoying the series. Thanks so much for taking the time to contact me. So sorry for the delay in replying. I’m much better on Facebook and Twitter. In fact, on my Butterfly Novels Facebook page there is a short story to keep you going till And Actually… It’s called Check Out Girl. I hope you enjoy. Thanks again. }I{
I really loved And By The Way, sorry if it’s a bit late. But to be honest, the book made me emotional. I really felt how you wanted your readers to feel and for me, that makes you a very persuasive author.
I got the same reaction like everone else, I didn’t want the first book to end because I had this longing to know what happens next to Alex and David in Alex’s point of view. But that doesn’t stop me from reading the next one. I admired everthing about the first one, and I’m sure I will too with the next. Thanks!
Thanks Clarisse for getting in touch. You are lucky – you’ve still the second book to read. So many people have read them both and have to wait till September for the next. Don’t worry, you’ll get to love Sarah in And For Your Information – I completely fell in love with her. I really hope you enjoy it. }I{
